Aruna Sairam (carnatic vocal)
Jyotsna Srikanth MBE (carnatic violin)
Patri Satish Kumar (mridangam)
Giridhar Udupa (ghatam)
Legendary Aruna Sairam brings her vast repertoire of raga knowledge and spiritual lyrics and presents them with a mind-bending level of expertise and ease to transport you into another world.
Aruna Sairam will mesmerise you with the compositions by Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi (1700-1765), Tyāgarāja (1767-1847), Dikshitar (1775 -1835) and Shastri (1762–1827) whose hymns of praise have wide appeal, in music that is by turn exuberant, intense, serene and dramatic. Saint Thyagaraja showed that Nadopasana, or the practice of music, is the path towards moksha or liberation.
She is accompanied by the brilliant Rao and Udupa on percussion and Srikanth MBE the sublime violinist and composer in her own right.
Let the sublime sonorous voice of Aruna Sairam wash away the stresses and strains of our daily city lives transporting us into the sound of nature for a profoundly healing experience.
