Award winning Bangash makes his UK solo debut at the Darbar Festival. Amaan Ali Bangash, is the eldest son and disciple of the Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and grandson of Ustad Haafiz Ali Khan.  He belongs to the seventh generation in an unbroken chain of the Senia Bangash school of music. A global sensation, with his family Bangash, have showcased the sarod as one of India’s foremost Indian classical instruments and traditions. Bangash has performed for royalty, heads of states, faith leaders and every prestigious venue across the world. In this special concert Bangash presents stunning ragas from his micro bending tradition with tabla accompaniment by Anubrata Chatterjee, son of Pandit Anindo Chatterjee.

Darbar festival is proud to present global violin icon and composer; Dr L Subramaniam for the first time at Darbar Festival with his son Ambi. Ready yourself to be transported through hypnotic power of Carnatic ragas and rhythmic grooves. 

Dr. L. Subramaniam is an exceptional musician, having performed and recorded south Indian classical music, western classical music, both orchestral and non-orchestral. He has composed for major orchestras, conducted them, scored for films, and collaborated with a diverse range of musicians from various genres including jazz, occidental, and north Indian duets. His curiosity has led him to incorporate multiple techniques and forms, composing for western classical orchestras and ballets. He advised Peter Brook on sound concepts for “Mahabharata” and composed for acclaimed movies like “Salaam Bombay” and “Mississippi Masala” He featured as a soloist in notable films. His compositions have been performed by esteemed orchestras worldwide, including the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Swiss Romande Orchestra, Kirov Ballet, and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. His latest work, ‘Astral Symphony,’ exemplifies global fusion. Honoured with Padma Bhushan, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, and “Nada Chakravarti” from H.H Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swami-ji, he holds honorary doctorates from Bangalore University, University of Madras, and Sheffield University.

He is accompanied by his virtuoso son Ambi together with stalwarts of contemporary Carnatic percussion.
