Harjinderpal Singh Matharu

Profile Image

Harjinderpal Singh Matharu is among Europe’s leading santoor players. He studied Punjab gharana tabla in his youth, but after impressing Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji Maharaj, the leader of the Namdhari Sikhs, it was arranged for him to study under santoor legend Pandit Shivkumar Sharma in Mumbai. He now performs and teaches, using his santoor’s hundred strings to further the art of Gurbani Kirtan (Sikh devotional music) alongside Hindustani classical performance. He also has an undergraduate degree in Science.

Darbar believes in the power of Indian classical music to stir, thrill, and inspire. Explore our YouTube channel, or subscribe to the Darbar Concert Hall to watch extended festival performances, talk and documentaries in pristine HD and UHD quality.
