Tabla Grooves + Kala Ramnath

Thu 10 October, 06:30 PM, Milton Court

Session 1

Parimal Chakraborty tabla

Gurdain Rayatt tabla

Kaushik Konwar tabla

The tabla is the most loved Indian percussion instrument and its sounds are featured in many music genres from classical to pop to RnB. This concert features an innovative trio tabla composition spanning a huge range of compositional styles, produced by Pandit Shankar Ghosh for a concert at the renowned Saptak Festival in India in 2006. Pandit Shankar Ghosh first travelled outside India in 1962 with Pandit Ali Akbar Khan and in later years performed with Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Vilayat Khan and many more, whilst simultaneously experimenting masterfully with the tabla. Experience scintillating grooves and mastery performed by three outstanding exponents of the tabla, Chakraborty, Rayatt and Konwar as they stitch together rhythms that weave increasingly complex patterns at speeds that will leave you mesmerised.
