Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar

Sat 27 October, 10:00 AM, Milton Court

Session 1

Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar dhrupad vocal

Sukhad Munde pakhwaj

Transport yourself to India’s most evolved music, dhrupad singing by Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar.

As a member of the esteemed Dagar family, Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar represents the 20th generation of an unbroken chain of dhrupad singers. Traditionally his family perform dhrupad as a duet, but Dagar successfully presents the dynamic of a duet as a solo performer. Dhrupad is widely considered one of the most demanding forms of Indian singing involving tremendous voice control, and strict adherence to the rules of expression, but Dagar takes it in his stride – a consummate performer. Indulge yourself in this special morning concert.
