Welcome to the essential all-singing, all-dancing guide to everything you wanted to know about Indian classical music but were afraid to ask.

This course aims to demystify traditions and practices that are central to this most ancient of classical musical tradition. Whilst aimed at complete beginners, this is also useful for those with some knowledge of Indian or European classical music.

The course includes Hindustani and Carnatic traditions, raga and tala theory, as well as origins and contemporary history of the genre.

The award-winning broadcaster, journalist, novelist and critic, Jameela Siddiqi, leads the course. Sessions also feature live musicians with Harmeet Virdee, a young sitar player and Sukhdeep Dhanjal on the tabla.

Dates: Mon 11 Sept, Tues 12 Sept, Wed 13 Sept, Thur 14 Sept and Fri 15 Sept
